Because Tromsø is very small town and there are many high mountains surrounding it, it has the best condition to chase Northern Lights. You can even see Northern Lights in Town at night.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos. To see the Northern Lights is a dream of mine and I hope I fulfil it one day. How many people did you go and how long did you stay there? Have you been to another location where you could see the lights in the sky?
Hi @Anonymous_c153ffd7b6b8750d076e7d0e2b353510 ,
I admire the beauty of Norway, its charming winter fairytale, alluring and mysterious landscapes. And of course, your photos and your post are made professionally !!!
There are two camera used. The first and last pictures are taken by my tour guide. During the tour, guides takes pictures and teach guests how to take great Northern Light Pictures. I am not sure but he used Sony A7 mirrorless.
I took the rest of pictures. My camera was Canon 100D, entry level of DSLR and Canon ef-s 24mm f/2.8 stm. My photos are pretty enough, aren’t they? haha The more expensive Camera, the better photos. However, more important thing was configuration.
Someday, I hope you will take much better pictures than mine.
I joined this tour twice. Our group was around ten, not more than 15. Tour starts at 6 pm and it is over around 12am. Because the name of tour is chasing Lights, we visited two or three spots to chase them. In a bus, you can see the guide is looking for Northern Lights with mobile apps and his camera. When we find some lights in some spot, we stay and wait for them.
Yes! I also visited Iceland to watch lights but Tromso was better for me. However, people watch beautiful lights in Iceland as well. I think it depends on when you visit.
