Have not believed it before I saw it with my own eyes

This what you just see here is true and its history is amazing.

It’s a tiny place in Austria called Hallstatt, this place is itself beautiful many tourists visit Hallstatt because of its location and beauty, but there are also some hidden gems. like this one.

The history of these skulls is simple but also important to understand. Hallstatt is really a small place so small that the graveyard is also very tightly built so at some point there was no place anymore for the next people that died, what they have done is taken the old bodies out to put in the newer bodies in.

They didn’t just take the heads but everything structured them to some kind of a Cemetery and to honor them by painting their heads with their name and a saying, as beautiful as they could some are very creative and some mirrored their personality. It was a good mix of male and female, some with old historic names and some other names which still are used, all part of the culture of Hallstatt or Austria itself.

The room was tiny but it was kept groomed and clean, even though it was kind of scary they still held it so that you kind of felt the respect that they tried to still gave them even if it was a tourist attraction for many people.

obviously the people in there were all Christians, so the cross in the middle,

This place was almost in the middle of Hallstatt at a church called Pfarrkirche Beinhaus/Ossuary. the Cemetery was not just right in front or next to the church but it’s kind of hidden in a yard, in another part of the complex, so we had to kind of search for it before we found the right place.

Nonetheless, Hallstatt was a great experience and a wonderful trip.

No se si es un lugar que visitaría, me da un poco de escalofríos @KushR , ver tantos cráneos apilados, comprendo qué hay que hacer lugar para los nuevos muertos jejej, en fin, me gusto leer tu post.

Oh, @KushR , I have been there when I was a child and couldn’t sleep in a long time well.

But now it is very interesting to see it! I need to plan a visit soon in Hallestadt, as this town is full of history and quite important for the European part of the World History.
