Hathi Pathar Stone is associated with the word elephant. Hence this place is known as elephant stone. According to the popular story, when Datarbapu was doing penance in the forest, a demon called an elephant to interrupt him. took shape and started making noise. At this time Datarbapu, in meditation due to his penance, realized that this was not a real elephant but an asura in his disguise and took the form of an elephant to break his penance. So the huge stone in the shape of an elephant is here since Bapu turned it into a stone. This place is reached by climbing 950 steps leading from Koyla Wazir’s place.
