Learning how to paint isn’t just for kids.
I went to my first “paint and sip” painting studio with my mom’s club for a “Ladies Night Out” and it was a blast!
For 2 hours, we left our children and spouses home to go to a place called Pinot’s Palette, a “beginners” painting studio to learn how to paint while drinking our favorite beverages of choice for purchase.
No experience required
Instructions on how to paint was an easy-to-follow along, step-by-step demonstration, that included learning how to properly hold a brush, how to mix acrylic paints, and how to apply the brush onto the canvas.
Majority of us were 1st-time painters with no painting experience at all. It was a great team building or activity to do as a group. We were laughing, encouraging one another, and chatting about our lack of artistic experience.
Wine does help to relax and bring out your creativity
While we had to buy our beverages here, the place allowed us to bring our own food (snacks) to eat while we were painting and drinking.
During our 2 hours of instruction, we did get a 10 minute midway break to stretch our legs. This is when you get your chance to see and compare what your friends are doing, and, of course, compare and see what other groups are doing in the room too.
The inner artist in you
It was interesting to see while we were using the same paint colors and following the painting instructor’s instructions, all of our paintings were slightly different by our interpretations and how we each held our brushes as we painted.
Given that I had no prior painting experience before this night, I felt for a brief moment I was an accomplished artist.
Acrylic paints dry quickly. I was able to take my masterpiece home with me when this class was over.
#LetsGuide: Big Thumbs Up!
Looking for a creative outlet? I highly recommend finding a “paint and sip” painting studio, such as Pinot Palette, in your city or town if you are looking for a fun, memorable activity to do together as a group, such as an Employee Team Building, Ladies Night Out (as I did here with my mom’s club), bachelorette parties, birthday parties, etc. Next group activity idea - finding a place to paint ready-to-paint pottery.
NOTE: If alcohol is available for purchase then note only 21-year-olds and older are only allowed to participate due to what the legal drinking age is in the U.S.
Ever wanted to learn how to paint? Have you ever went to a “paint and sip” painting studio? Please share your experiences (and photos of your art) here.
