Har ki doon is a very beautiful and scenic trek in sankri range , Uttarakhand. In the month of October 2019 i have been to this amazing trek with my friend dheeraj . We started from indore and it took 1 and half day to reach dehradun from indore by train .
After reaching dehradun we stayed there in a hotel for a day and the next morning we took a bus in the morning at 5 am and that is the only bus available to reach (sankri) which is the main location you have to reach to start har ki dun trek .
You can get that bus in front of railway station at 5 in the morning and it runs daily between dehradun and sankri and it takes around 10 hour to reach sankri . And yes itβs a private bus and not a government bus .
After reaching sankri we stayed in a hotel ? which is on the main road in main sankri market and the name of the hotel was swargrohini palace which was quite a good budget hotel i found out .
In off season they will charge you around 500-600 bucks for a day and in on season the prices can rise up a little . Hotel does not have food facilities as of now so you have to go out and walk a little , just 50 steps you have to take and you will find good food in neighbourhood.
You will get everything ( as in all the important things which you gonna need to have in daily use ) in the market .
So after spending a day and a night in the hotel next morning we took a local jeep to taluka village which is at a distance of around 10-11 kms from sankri which is the main entrance for har ki dun because har ki dun trek comes in govind national pashu vihar and taluka village is the starting point of this beautiful national park ? .
It took around half an hour to reach taluka from sankri and then we started our trek after having some chai biscuits ? in taluka .
So here i would like to tell you guys that taluka is the last village till where you can find roads and one can just drive till here only and from taluka you just need to walk only on your own or either you can just hire a khacchar if you think you going to need one because har ki dun is around 27 kms from taluka by walking. So from taluka it will take another 3 days to reach your destination which is har ki dun .
And if you guys want to read more or want to know anything please write it to me .
Do let me know if you like it and want to read more .
Thanks and regards,
Mayank !!
