An expert solutionist badge with another fifty solutions merely in seventy days!
That’s unbelievable even to me.
However, there was some learning on that journey.
While providing a solution, one must consider all the possibilities & then present a complete answer. Sometimes, I had edited my answer upon realization of some secondary scenarios.
Provide links but do provide details along with that.
It’s not necessary to be the first to provide a solution. If the answer is comprehensive, that can grab the tag.
In this way, I remember, somebody wanted to know whether it is necessary to provide a self-introduction every month. At that place, I replied, indicating how to set up a “Perpetual” introduction. That specific word did the trick.
Nevertheless, I came across three types of problem posers.
Many persons truly appreciated the solution.
(However, nobody was aware of how to mark an answer as a solution!)
On the other hand, a few adopted a strategy of changing the goal post by annexing more & more problem statements within the initial question.
Surprisingly, a few refused to accept the answer even though the problem vanished.
Nevertheless, That adds some extra enjoyment in the problem-solving!
I was busy browsing through the Travel and Local stories section for the past weeks and decided to visit the Achievement section only now. I saw your post so thought of wishing a fellow LG who has helped me immensely in the recent past.
Once again, hearty congratulations on your achievement and many thanks for the time and energy you spend to make this community a great place.
Incidentally, when I saw the badge, I was delighted to note that now I am in a set of thirty-two members who have received the recognition to date.
Out of curiosity, I searched the members & gathered the following interesting stats.
Out of thirty-two, three are “Master Solutionist” now.
Then seven are Pro & that leaves balance twenty-two as experts.
However, a saddening fact to observe was some of these are inactive now. (That excludes former moderators or Googlers.)
I was wondering how the community keeps these previous active members Connected & interested in sustaining their distinguished participation.
This is a good question, @C_T , even if I can just give you a feeling, as I had several contacts in the community with most of the owners of a solutionist badge.
I think we have to go back a bit to the history of the community, when we were less, and more were active, compared with the number of the subscribers, to understand the evolution.
Now many of them are more active in the Google Maps support community. I see them always with pleasure, when time by time they post in Connect.
Others moved to different challenges, some of them found difficult to accept the evolution on the new Connect. The old community had really a classic forum structure, much more basic than the actual one.
Others still active on the Street View Exclusive forum. Now the community is 10 times bigger, and some of them do not like the competition that there is here, especially from March to may, during the application period, when a lot of new Local Guides fight for being visible
