As the clock now ticks towards midnight and to 2022, just under 2 hours to go here in Australia, I wish everyone here on Connect a Happy New Year. What a year 2021 turned out to be! After a second COVID pandemic centric year for most of us, I’m so glad that 2021 will soon pass for all of us and I look forward to and wish everyone a brighter, healthier, safer and a prosperous New Year, full of peace, joy, love, hope and happiness. I also want to thank you all for your great posts, stories and photos, and for all your comments and exchange of ideas through 2021. This certainly helped me personally make it through living in the city which has the unenviable record of having been the longest locked down city in the world. Hugs to you all!
I know that the Omicron variant has put a dampener on New Year’s Eve celebrations in many parts of the world and here we’re spending a quiet New Year’s Eve at home and the photos I’ve shared in this post, taken with my smartphone from our balcony, show the start of the somewhat limited New Year’s Eve celebrations here.
Feel free to say hello in the comments and add a photo showing how you are seeing in/or spent the New Year. We would all love to see this
Also, if you have a New Year’s resolution, do share it. For me, unable to travel after 2 years of somewhat of a sedentary lifestyle, I plan on getting some extra cardio in my life while taking more photos
Thank you so much @Sophia_Cambodia and of course same to you and yours. You’re normally not one to be short of a great photo or two Sophia so how are you seeing the New Year in and do you have a New Year’s resolution?
We are traveling for the first time in almost 2 years. We are enjoying the beautiful sunshine on the Portuguese island of Madeira.
Walking along Levadas everyday. Eating our hearts out on huge buffets. And of cause being very cautious to fend off the COVID-19 virus.
Flying home tomorrow.
Happy New Year to all Local Guides friends
Tonight we will watch the synchronized fireworks covering the city of Funchal with plenty of Cruise ships lined up to also watch the fireworks. They claim it is the biggest in Europe!
It’s great to hear that you’re travelling again @MortenCopenhagen , and I couldn’t think of a better place to visit and eat your heart out, the island of Madeira.
Well it’s officially 2022 here now. So Sayonara to 2021 and welcome 2022!
Yes, of all the places in the world I believe we are about the 4th or maybe 5th place in order to enter the New Year @renata1 so we are living in your future Thank you for your wishes Renata and same to you and your family and friends in beautiful Croatia.
Thank you for your New Year wishes @plavarda and same to you, your family and friends. 2021 was a year of ups and downs and we can only hope that 2022 will be a year of lots more of the ups.
Happy New Year @PattyBlack . Yes like you in Italy there were restrictions here for the New Year celebrations and like you, we spent New Year’s Eve at home glued to the television. We could see some fireworks from our balcony but it was as spectacular as in previous years. Lake Como is a beautiful place so please do how us your photos. I look forward to seeing them.
Happy New Year @doc_dells and you did well to travel in both December 2020 and early December 2021. My last trip was in February-March 2020 in the South Pacific which I broke to rush home because of the news that international borders were closing because of COVID which was something totally unknown to me at the time. Thanks for sharing your lovely sunset photo at Alam Sutra Lake. I also love your 2022 resolution. Indeed stay healthy and [lots, lots] more travelling!!
Happy 2022 to Local Guides Connect.I’m proud to be with you,now for three weeks and as long as I can,for ever,if posible.Because good ideas are nice to see and share. And my new year’s resolution is for me to be again a good man and visited by a satisfied a gift giver Santa Klaus.
