Mar 7 is a special day for Bangladesh Local Guides. Ten years ago, on this day, this community started its journey to improve Google Maps, aware and educating other people about accessibility, sustainability and so on. As a member of this amazing community I want to wish all its members a happy anniversary!
My involvement with this community has been since 2015,.a little after a year it has started. Back in those days we used to share our activities through Google+. I did not know much about mapping back then, let alone sharing stuff on Maps. The pioneer members of this community helped me learn so many things that I can never thank them enough.
After so many years when I look back I get nostalgic thinking what a wonderful time I spent with the community while I was in Bangladesh! I had the opportunity to attend a few of the meetups. We went out of Dhaka city to explore nature. We celebrated the Bengali New Year together. We worked together to stand by the underprivileged ones. They were all fun.
On February 21, 2024, we celebrated the 10 year milestone. For the first time I got an opportunity to not only attend a milestone meetup but also to host it. I was proud.
Bangladesh Local Guides has recently reached 10K members milestone as well. Just learned that this morning. 10 out of 10. Way to go Bangladesh Local Guides!
2016 : Meetup Recap : Due to political problems in the country, the program was not programmed together that year. Everyone shared virtual photos to celebrate the second year of the community. In 2016 the Local Guide Connect forum was not launched so photos from our celebration meetup were shared on the Google Local Guides official Google Plus forum.
2015 Meetup Recap: In 2015 the Local Guide Connect forum was not launched so photos from our celebration meetup were shared on the Google Local Guides official Google Plus forum.

I joined the facebook group of Bangladesh Local Guides in the year 2019. So I am more like an online member than a proper member of this community.
I have learned a lot about maps and the tips & tricks about contributing in maps from the experienced local guides of the community. Now I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience to the new members as well as to rest of the community in the future.
