Hampi

I wont say i am too much travel enthusiast but whenever i found time (what a lame reason) in my busy schedule i went on the travel especially last minute plan.

Here i wanted to speak about my travel to Hampi which i went to visit one weekend. It was friday evening, on tea with my friend i asked him whats his plan for weekend was, and there we packed our backpack and took first public transport bus that can take us to the nearest town of Hospet, arppox 30 mins away from Hampi.

We reached early morning unplanned without any reservation to stay. Got down from bus, used our Friend in NEED - Google maps, to see what’s around, and found Tungabhadra Dam, few kilometers way from bus stand. We deiced that to be our first destination to see, but of course first things first - and that was to get bath and important rest room break. walked around bus stand and found a lodge - again with help of our guides community members who had detailed out places around. Quick 30 mins break to get ready and we are on our way in local auto to dam. We were probably first entrant to the dam and had a very peaceful walk around water reservoir, garden that is around it and majestic view of water body.

Time to go back to what we came for - Hampi. Reached town of Hospet again, and quick road side stall to kill our morning hunger with local food - and on our way in shared vehicle that you get from bus stand to Hampi.

We reached and our first stop was Virupaksha temple - a beautiful temple with more beautiful carving. Walked around temple complex admiring its beauty and also hired a guide to explain us about it. Later we walked along the river that is next to the temple, but before that we saw a barber sitting by river under a tree, and few people lined up to him for shave. And those people in queue were not locals but travellers from different countries. Huge mountains of rocks greet you as you walk down the stairs to the river and narrow path way along the river takes you to the market complex which was way deserted and wish we had camping gears to spend night by the river in the complex.

Continued our journey to the Vitthala temple and there you are beautiful marvelous majestic Stone Chariot (all exclamatory words are small) - and beautiful cloudy weather, little sun light made it look even more beautiful.

Well we spent our time walking around temple, visiting different monuments and spending time to look at all. We even took nap in the one of the market complex in noon (we couldn’t help it).

We went back to the Hospet in night, hired a lodge for night stay exploring it on maps, and returned to Hampi again next day. Today we hired a moped and went around visiting museum. Met few french people who were on bicycles, had lunch at Mango Mist and our beautiful unplanned Hampi was a beautiful memory. Time to visit again next time with better equipped with camera’s, some pre-reading about place and with better arranged guides… Till then Enjoy Travelling…

@KatyaL Thank you so much for help…this will inspire me to write more. I tried editing photos online and rotate but seems i cant do it online in editor(let me know if i can).

Also pls check my next post and let me know feedback https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/Gandikota-Grand-Canyon-of-India-Lepakshi/m-p/1293972#M291059

Hi @Sunilmandaliya ,

I think you can rotate it any editor which applicable for your OS, just save the photos to your laptop and rotate them. After that you can upload them back here and add a title of each photo before uploading.

By the way, to better organise your photos, you can try using Google photos.

I’ve just checked your other post about Gandikota - Grand Canyon of India and Lepakshi, and for me, this is a great post. I would like to recommend you to add the link of the location from Google Maps instead of other websites. It would be better for orientation for everyone here.

Keep on posting your nice stories and interesting photos!

@KatyaL Thanks for encouragement. Will post links from google going forward. Also i will rotate photos once i am home.
