There is a small town in northern Iceland with which I have a very special bond. It’s located in the most remote area of the country: The Westfjords (only 100 km away from the polar arctic circle!). Being a Spaniard who born in South America this is not a place where you typically pick as your home, but I did, and I loved it!
Where is this hamburguers restaurant?
My girlfriend and I lived in Bildudalur for 2 years and it was one of the most exciting experiences that we’ve ever had. There are only 300 inhabitants in the town (maybe less than 250 during winter) but even though, in this small is cooked the most delicious hamburgers in the entire country. I used to say to my girlfriend: “You know honey, here in this area is where the Game of Thrones scenes beyond the wall were shotted, but having these hamburgers beyond the wall, I’d rather stay here than going south, even if the winter is coming…”.

When I first visited the restaurant I went to Google Maps straight away, as I usually do wherever I go. I wanted to know how unknow the place was, and as I expected the place was an unknown in a remote area. I could not allow that, so I waited for my order and shot some pictures, then my girlfriend said: tittle it “hamburgers in the front of the fjord”…since then, these pictures have had thousands of views (of course, in proportion to the scarce number of touris visitng the area).
Even when we’ve moved back to Spain, we promised ourselves to come back to this town at 24th march of 2027, ten years from we first moved to the town. Until that date, we will keep dreaming of eating again the tastiest hamburgers of the Icelandic Fjords.
