Hamburg ‘Love lock’ bridge
The Hamburg love lock bridge in Jungfersteig is an interesting piece of tradition for tourists’ visits. According to local stories, lovers travel here, get a padlock with their names inscribed on it, lock the padlock at the bridge rails as a sign of their engagement and throw the key into the riverbed where it can never be found! It is believed that this ritual makes their love last forever. Germany has this “Love Lock” bridges in other parts of the Republic.
