Hamburg, Germany - The Hidden Gem of Major Global Cities

When people speak about traveling to Germany or Europe, there are so many cities which are mentioned first, but why? In Germany it is all about Berlin, Munich and maybe Cologne and Frankfurt. However Frankfurt mainly for the airport connecting them to another destination. Cologne? Probably for the beautiful “Dom” cathedral and Munich for Oktoberfest. But Hamburg, why are people not talking about this wonderful city?

Well, this is why they should speak about it and come and visit:

  • The international airport has good connections into other major european cities

  • The Airport is less then 20 minutes away from the city centre

  • The port is one of the biggest in Europe and it is really beautiful

  • The most modern and iconic Opera house / Concert Hall opened in 2016 - The Elbphilharmonie

  • It has the most beautiful miniature museum - Miniatur Wunderland

  • One of the largest connected shopping streets in Europe

  • A major train station connecting with Berlin and reaching it within 1 hour and 45minutes

  • A large variety of museums and galleries

  • An amazing city lake “Alster” connecting the urban, green and water feeling in the middle of the city

  • Sailing and rowing in the middle of town

  • Cruise destination connecting to Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, the Baltic States and Russia as well as Great Brittain and the USA / Caribean

  • Major individual and iconic 5 Star hotels making a stay in Hamburg unique and special

  • A versatile restaurant list like no others

Thank you for sharing these great tips for visiting Hamburg. Your picture is nice and very good quality.

It would be great if you replace the links to the websites of businesses and add instead the Google maps locations of these places. As you probably know here on Connect commercial advertising is not allowed.

I like most the region around the old port, you maybe have some pictures from there for us?
