Gurudwara Ramdas is home to Sri Smadh Baba Budha ji Sahib, which is located in the village of Ramdas in the Amritsar district. During missionary tours, Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji came and sat under a tahli (fig tree) near town ramDas in samat 1575 bikrami 1518. There, he encountered a child. When Guru Sahib overheard a tiny child discussing vairag (separation or detachment) and bibek (prudence), Guru Nanak Dev ji remarked, “You are yet a child and you speak like an old man.” You are an oldster (wise guy), not a child.” Guru Sahib bestowed blessings on him and regarded him as a wise man. Inside Gurudwara Sahib, there is a tahli tree. In 1766, Sri Guru HarGobind ji built a pyre for Baba Buddha ji near where the Guru Granth Sahib ji stands now. According to Sikh custom, arDas was performed, and Bhai bhana, Baba Buddha ji’s younger son, lighted the pyre. Nearby is the tharha Sahib platform, where Sri Guru Har Gobind ji recited kirtan sohila. Baba Buddha ji was 125 years, 11 months, and 11 days old when he died. Sri Guru Har Gobind ji, Bhai Bidhi chand, Bhai Jetha Singh, and the sangat were present for the cremation ritual.
