At Guptipara Sandesh (Desert) was made here even before the partition of bengal. Guptipara was the birthplace of legendary sweet-maker Bhola Moira, Grand father of Bhola Moira started his sweet business from Guptipara long before the Bhola Moira was born. When Calcutta (Now Kolkata) was not built,there was no railway, from then sweet and sandesh used to go to different places by boat from Guptipara. Different types of sweets were made along with Gupo Sandesh,Murki,Batasa,Mukha Sandesh , Bata Sandesh. At that time the whole of Calcutta was supplied with Sandesh(Dessert) from here.
