Guiding Stars 2022 Guess Challenge-Who's next?🙄

Before I start may I loudly state as a disclaimer that this is very unofficial and does not in anyway influence or affect,the main event coming up on connect soon. I am writing this as a local guide like any other one on connect. For the Main official post here you are .

If someone guessed/Suggested you here,please don’t take it too seriously because this is just a game among local guides here on connect. Please feel free to participate or not thank you. It’s next Wednesday we are almost there !!!

Count down to the event (6 days and 23hrs to go) Tik…Tok…tik…tok…

Guess who may be a next guiding star,who’s on your mind?

The main objective of this post is to make connect lively as the big day of this event approaches. Last year I remember we had so much fun,the days leading to the guiding stars event. I absolutely love the photo booth experience. It was such a fun and the stickers were cool. It brought back hundreds of inactive local guides to connect. Everyone shared in the fun,that although we were not guiding stars yet we enjoyed the event almost like the guiding stars themselves.

We don’t know what events or fun the Googlers are planning for us this year to brighten up and to increase our excitement toward December 7. That’s what gave me this idea. Now feel free to tell us in the comment box below;

• what are your memories of last year’s guiding star event.
• Who do you think /guess could be nominated as a guiding star 2022.
• You can guess as many as you like mind you. 50 max anyway. LOL.
• Please feel free to guess yourself or any of our fellow local guides you feel could be nominated.
• Lastly (Optional) if you don’t mind kindly tell us why you think/guess the local guides you have in mind should be a guiding star.

The nomination of guiding stars is based on quality and extra-ordinary contributions to the maps and very active and lively interactions here on connect. There maybe other criteria that I’m not aware of,seeing I’m just a local guide like yourself. Nevertheless I’m quite certain of these ones I mentioned. Therefore if you are thinking to guess someone these qualities has to be considered.

I’ll jump start it since it’s my idea and others can kindly follow suit.

I am guessing @MortenCopenhagen could be a next guiding star.

Reason.He has been very active and helpful on connect. He has answer for almost all the questions raised on connect. He has recently earned a pro-solutionist badge. That means he has given 250 solutions !!! I check on his profile without his permission LOL

Of course his contributions on the maps is amazing. Imagine over 74,000 edits and over 16,000 photos.

Now over to you,say a prayer before guessing, cross yourself, make a wish looking at the star in the sky etc…

Wish us all goodluck and congratulations in advance to the new guiding stars.

Yes it’s a long wait 6 days and a few hours left now. No one has guessed anyone yet. It’s hard to guess too isn’t it? 150 million local guides,then 50 guiding stars !!! Its a big job for the Googlers and Google itself. Let’s see who they’ll come up with.

That post of me you quoted at Google office had nothing to do with connect. Absolutely nothing to do with the maps or anything like that. I was there for another program Crowdsource. I don’t know anything more than you do as regards Google connect etc Anyway who’s your guess on this? Common please play the game.

I’ll play. Just a disclaimer, I’m serious about the guesses, but joking regarding the details of why. Sometimes tone and sarcasm do not translate well here, so I’m putting that upfront. So, dear @SholaIB , my guesses are:

@Herve_Andrieu because his 8.9 Billion photo views probably account for a significant percentage of time all global users spend on Maps.

@MortenCopenhagen has to be in there, not just because of his contributions to the community (which are huge), but because the Maps team likely wants to track him down and question whether he’s doing all of this work to build his own map program.

@AdamGT will be awarded with his own category; “Top 100 1 Dude Doing The Analytics Work Everyone Wants But Google Cannot Seem To Get Their Quantum Super Computing Network To Figure Out.”

@SholaIB I’m sure you’ll be a Community Builder Guiding Star since it seems you have acknowledged and/or met every one of the 150,000,000 Global Local Guides.

@Ewaade_3A is a no brainer for an Inclusive Mapper. But, I’d nominate her for a Nobel prize if my hair starts growing back from using these Cloves & Ginger.

This is turning out as hilarious as I wish it to be to cool off the tension and excitement mounting as the day gets closer.

thanks for the mention. I doubt I actually would make it, because I’m not very community-oriented or participating much in Local Guides Connect. Without your post I would not even be aware of the event’s existence

I signed up to listen in because they’re promising some nice content, and I always love to learn more about Google Maps.

Someone you didn’t mention who would deserve to be among the stars is @JanVanHaver whose podcast “LetsGuide podcast” is my #1 source of information for Google Maps news… Episode 40 is still waiting in my playlist…

Hopefully this event will be a lot of fun for everyone!

Thank you for such a nice and lengthy reply. In that way we learn and interact more which is one of the reasons I enjoy connect and meet-up etc. Well you never know,you might make it. Well someone has guessed you so I’ll have you on. Let’s see how many more votes/guess you’ll get.
