Honestly, contributing as a local guide on Google Maps makes me feel like a shepherd with the imaginary flock, or a guide in the zoo (yeeey!). Yes, I low key give guidance to others who may want to go to the places I have already been to. I love sharing my experiences by writing detailed reviews (which actually pays with extra points) and these give other people better insights. Seeing huge numbers of views on my pictures that I post, peoples likes,… it gets me excited, wanting to contribute more. To be specific, because I am a biomedical person, I am often visiting or attending training at a biomedical research institution. You don’t find a lot of “local guide” information on Google Maps about these institutions and I see this as a great opportunity to be sharing it. Through simple writing, I am guiding a random (imaginary) someone with interest in these institutions. Answering questions or adding photos, gets my juices flowing because I keep imagining someone who’ll need this information will be glad it is available. I share with gladness because I know am adding to the pool of knowledge out there, someone will one day use it to make a few decisions. I truly feel like a torch in the darkness. Who doesn’t want to be that?
