Guided by Local Guides

I’m pretty happy I clicked on the button that said “read more about the Local Guides program” through google maps a few years back, because the local guides program has made a major impact on myself mentally, physically and socially. The Local Guides Program has also giving me the gift of other people’s Experiences in the area before making my own, Giving back to the community feeling like I’m contributing to my neighborhood and to small businesses, and also new places to explore and travel to!

Over the past 2 years I’m proud to be a local guide and help others in my community and around the world. Growing up in a city where it’s hard to find things to do that aren’t the same thing over and over again is a little difficult, but over the past few years as google grew I have grown with it and have gone more places, tried new foods, found new passions and met new people as I go on new adventures. I wouldn’t be where I am today honestly, Local guides has taking me out of my comfort bubble and allows me to branch out, explore new places I never thought I would. Whoever came up with Local guides has changed the game in this generation socially, physically and mentally. For the better I believe.

Being a Local guide and being a part of the program is an escape or other words is a type of freedom for me. Being 24 and being a care giver to a parent isn’t an easy job, I’ve been a care giver to my mom since the age of 17 when I graduated high school in 2014, My mom is in the grieving period after her losing her family due to illness and her taking care of 7 people has taking a toll, so I’m “second in command” to help her in the process of healing and recovery from her lost over the years. It’s a “ day by day” process but has gotten better as she sees my younger sister and I branch out more by traveling, researching, trying new things and meeting new people has given her more power to herself and confident not to give up! Thanks to Google maps and local guides I get to research places before I go, read the reviews from actual local’s in the area that have posted their experiences they have had ,it has helped me many times making a decisions such as my new car I got earlier this year! I read the review before going and the business I picked to purchase the car did not disappoint! I was very satisfied with my purchase and it all started with reading the google review left by fellow local guides. Another Example is I Fell in love with a Local small Business i’m happy I stumble a pond while googling Donuts Shops near by and found Five-O-Donuts, great taste, awesome staff, wonderful different options of flavors, colors, and unique designs on top. One of my go to places in town for sure.

At the end of every month I have a slight thought of “I wonder when my local guides email will come in” , I get exciting knowing I impacted someone’s life in some way just by letting them know the details in the review for small local businesses, to great local trails to visit that have wonderful scenic views and awesome wildlife! When the email arriving in my inbox I see the views on the photos I left and the impact it makes and personally I automatically take a screen shot so I can show my mom later. Also when I take the screen shot and a few months go by I forget that I have taken the screen shot so when I see it later on I enjoy comparing the month I’m in at the moment to that month of the screen shot, and it’s awesome to see the small impact it makes.

Being aware of my surroundings such as caring for another, to caring for others has taught me other people’s experiences matter to show you, maybe even teach you something new and hope it helps others along the way. By leaving one single comment, review, like or picture could help a family’s local business, a hidden gem to thrive and beautiful history not to be forgotten over time! Exploring my City has been my personal goal for about 3 years to know my streets, get out of my personal bubble and to discover new hidden paths, old historical buildings, and awesome restaurants.

Local Guides Programs had giving me a type of freedom to guide myself and others to new places to travel, make new experiences for ourselves and others, to give back and just to know you have a place such a local guides to help you along in life is securing in a safely aspect especially when traveling alone or no one showing you the way. Local Guides is my guide through life. (No pun intended). Ha.

Giving me new experiences, an opportunity to give back and to be an explorer in real life.

Thanks Local Guides Program!

p.s. sorry if i spelt a few things wrong lol.
