Guide to travel around Buenos Aires

How to ride around Buenos Aires and don’t died traveling? ( Just metaphorically)

This is a post specially for people who want to meet my beautiful, huge and not easy to ride BA. As. As a newbie travel person one of the most things that I like is to catch public transportation when I go to a new city. I’m a not a driving person so my options are buss, subway, taxi or Uber.

Despite the money thing (taxi is expensive in everywhere) what can I say? I really enjoy using public transportation in other city to compare them with the one in my town.

So for people like me I want to share with you some tips about how to move by my city without a car, specifically using busses.
First at all you need to buy a “SUBE”.

This is a card that is using in Buenos Aires for public transportation ( buss, subway, train). You can get one in multiple places ( you can get information about in the Tourist Assistance Centers).

Well folks this is my favorite part of this post, I’m going to tell you how to get a bus in my city in the most graphic way I can.
Tip N° 1: You can use Google Maps to know where are you (if you have GPS) and where are you want to go. And then you can identify the bus stop near to you and get there.

Tip N°2: Now, you wait ( there are two apps who tell you when the bus is coming but there are not trustworthy hundred percent). So keep waiting. Suddenly the bus is coming!! When it is about 100meters close to you is time to raise you arm for a few seconds ??‍ :female_sign: ( maybe more than a few just in case) raise your arm??‍ :female_sign: , still??‍ :female_sign: …looking at the bus the whole time and waiting the approach.

Ok put the arm down, the bus is in front of you. Now you can take it and don’t forget to tell you to the driver where are you going to paid the right amount. If you want, and is possible, take a sit and enjoy the view.
You got lucky this time? Not always will be the same. Sometime you’ll be there raising your arm and the bus is not going to stop  Why? Well, many reasons, the bus is fulll, the driver is hurry, or maybe he is texting and is more important than you, or just he doesn’t want to stop. Don’t be sad  , is not you, people who live in Buenos Aires suffer this every day. Not the whole drivers are acting like this, just many.

Tip N° 3: sometime will be more than one unit in the bus stop at the same time if the one you need is the third in the road…RUN for it??‍ :female_sign: ??‍ :female_sign: ??‍ :female_sign: if you keep in the bus stop waiting the turn of your bus to pass for it you’re going to lose the bus, trust me, You Need To Run To The Bus!!!
Tip N° 4: is a common thing that drivers do not properly approach the bus to the sidewalk in the bus stop, so you have to go down to the street do a few steps and go for it.

Maybe you think I’m joking with all of this, but no I’m not, is the way I’ve to travel by my city everyday?
Getting off the bus is the same in everywhere I think, just press the button a few moment before you get closer to your stop.
You can use the Subway too, there are 6 lines and there are working pretty good.
For long rides you can catch the train.
If you’re a free soul and for short paths you can take a bike. There are a sistem of free bikes in BA too.

Well my friends I think that with all of this tips you’ll be fine.
I hope I’ve been helpful, that’s what I wanted when I thought about writing this post.

Gran post.

Saludos Farid.
