Grilled or Boiled (Corn)

Local Guides, How would you love to have your sweetcorn?

Maize also known as corn, is a cereal grain first domesticated by indigenous peoples in southern Mexico about 10,000 years ago. The leafy stalk of the plant produces pollen inflorescences and separate ovuliferous inflorescences called ears that yield kernels or seeds, which are fruits.

I love to have my corn grilled together with coconut or Ube . Boiled corn is also no exception as too much of grilled corn would make you try other varieties. But I bet, grilled corn is not very common if you say otherwise Local guides I challenge you to prove with a picture.

Local guides I challenge you to try your corn with coconut since Ube is a regional fruit. And tell me your experience. Eating corn with coconut or ube gives it an amazing taste and flavor.

I hope you find this post interesting Local guides!

Have a nice day!

Also I request a picture of a boiled corn if you have any.

Thank you @mockata2 @Nyainurjanah @Audrey_Ngam07 :hugs:

Thanks.

You made this Post before me!

I took a picture last week and thought I will only do the post after I am free!

I will still make mine and refer people to come and see yours.

I am feeling you “giving me cold shoulders, Austin”.

I have missed all our **‘**strolling’ on the streets of Connect.

Be well aware that I will always support you, no matter what! Although our ways may be different.

Wow @Austinelewex .

A well written and nicely composed article. Thank you for sharing this I believe it’s very particular to Africa. Wonder will this be done in some parts of Asia as well? @Shruti_U @Izumi @Wisnusetiono @MukulR @BudiFXW This reminds me.of childhood says when I had a bed visit to an uncle in the village. He had a nice large field of maize and believe me the taste is wonderful when you get the maize right there on the fields and roast it. It a very original and memorable taste! Austine what of Ube(pear) maybe you should add that you it goes together with the roasted corn. @Ewaade_3A this is a very common sight in Lagos, waiting for your update or addition to this. Thanks

Cheers.

@Austinelewex Thanks for sharing the interesting post. In :india: we refer :corn: as “Bhutta” and the grilled bhutta on charcoal is very popular especially during the rainy season :cloud_with_rain: . Grilled corn is a famous street food with lemon juice applied on its surface. I haven’t seen grilled corn along with coconut, this looks interesting, I will give it a try once Iam back to :india:

@Austinelewex I couldn’t even imagine this method! We always boil our corn, with salt or without.

Your corn looks very ripe. We use unripe corn for boiling, white in colour, then it’s soft and tender. Our yellow corn is usually hard and untasty, it can be used only for chicken feeding here. I think the reason is in different varieties of corn.

But nevertheless it’s hard for me to believe that your corn is soft.

Or it’s some sort of pop-corn?

It’s a pity I haven’t any photo of boiled corn. Our corn becomes ripe in August only and we eat it only during the short period when it’s not too ripe.

Hello @OlgaKlimchik

We also have different varieties of corn here in Nigeria, we have white corn and also yellow corn.

White corn is native here, yellow corn is genetically modified.

Nice display picture My friend @SholaIB

I can see the statue of Nkwame Nkrumah.

Yes, maize is memorable when freshly harvested and eaten the same day. I am lucky to have tasted both here in Nigeria, I wish I could get a closer picture of the Ube but you should know I am only at the mercy of the corn vendor. :joy: :joy:

Thanks for your wonderful comment my friend.

Have a nice day!

Hello @OlgaKlimchik

Grilled corn taste just like boiled corn. Its taste depends on the corn. If the corn is freshly harvested it tastes just like that likewise when it is not fresh. @OlgaKlimchik

It doesn’t taste like popcorn. Popcorn is totally different from grilling corn Although few corn seeds may pop when grilling. :slightly_smiling_face:

@Austinelewex I like grilled sweetcorn. We grill it with the corn husks, so it would look good and not burnt. :slightly_smiling_face: Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

@Ant_Bad_Yogi

Yes of course, we also grill like that also. It depends on what way the person doing it wants to use. By so we put the whole corn in the fire with its husks to allow it to be done.

We also cook corn with its husks like it is in @Nyainurjanah 's picture.

Any way you want that suits you serve. :slightly_smiling_face:
