Izmir is the third big city of the Turkey. Because of it built in coastland of Aegean sea, all roads lead to sea in Izmir. Izmir is the city of comfort, quiet and pleasure just like its people. We attach importance to good food, good view and having a good time. So that, we have lots of quality restaurants. However, we have little amount of world cuisine in Izmir. For this reason, I wanted to show some hidden gems of the world cuisine in Izmir.
La Puerta; La puerta is really popular in Izmir for friends meeting, birthdays and night drinks. We can categorize it as Spanish restaurant because of its colofull and spanish ambiance. It took even the name from Spanish. La puerta means ‘the door’. It has lots of different cuisines like Chinese, Taiwan, Spanish, Italian, Indian and Russian. For me, it is succesfull especially in spanish and italian cuisine. Varuna Gezgin- Cafe del mundo: Varuna is really excentric because of its decoration and story. The owner of the Del mundo is traveller (the gezgin means traveller in turkish), he travelled nearly all around the world and took memories from every place he discover. When he came to Izmir, he decided to open this place and exhibit the souvenirs while encourage people to travel like him. This place nearly awakes the traveller inside of the people and make you to have a good time with your friends in this joyful atmosphere and world cuisine. La cigale: It is my favorite place in Izmir with food, quality and music. It is an succesfull example of France restaurant. The menu has totally french cuisine, ambiance is created by french architecture and you can eat accompanied by live music. It is also a great place for romantic dinner. It is near the French consulate so you can hear lots of French here. You can drink an quality french wine while listening music and get rid of all your anxiety. Red Dragon: It is the oldest and most famous Asian cuisine in Izmir. It is populer since the 80s by the lovers of world cuisine. It has both the japanese and chinese foods in it. It is a classical Asia restaurant with the Sushis, Ramens and other tastes, with the quality of food and the ambiance which felt like you are in proper Chinese restaurant. Tavacı Recep Usta: The last one is my home cuisine, Turkish cuisine. Izmir cuisine had mostly the food which made of vegetable and olive oil. The tavacı recep usta (Chef Recep) offers the Anatolian cuisine in the heart of Izmir so the menu contains mostly meat. It has really modern and natural atmosphere within the trees. Also, it has beautifull sea view. In this ambiance, you can discover every kind of meats, kebabs, Turkish appetizers and desserts.
I can not choose the best one between them. They offers different kind of tastes and ambiances that can be choose according to your mood.
