Great nation is a nation that preserves its culture: BADUY

The Baduy Dalam tribe is a group that usually lives in the forest. This tribal characteristic can be seen from the white clothes.

They do not know technology, money or school. Thus, the people of the Inner Baduy can only communicate with the native language, namely Sundanese Banten dialect.

Not only technology, they are also resistant to tools from outside and even toiletries.

Baduy Dalam still adhere to the customs of their ancestors.
Some of the regulations adopted by the Baduy Dalam tribe include:

  • It is not permitted to use vehicles for transportation
  • Do not wear footwear
  • The door of the house must face north / south (except the Puun’s house)
  • Prohibition of using electronic devices (technology)
  • Using black / white cloth as clothes that are woven and sewn by themselves and are not allowed to use modern clothing.

At this time outsiders visiting the Kanekes area are increasing to hundreds of people per visit, usually teenagers from schools, students, and also other adult visitors. They accept these visitors, even for a night’s stay, with the proviso that visitors follow the customs that apply there. The customary rules include not taking pictures in the Baduy Dalam area, not using soap or toothpaste in the river.

For those of you who want to visit Baduy village, you can take a train from Jakarta (the capital). You can ride in the Tanah Abang station to Rangkas Bitung. It could also be from the Palmerah station, or Pondok Ranji station.
then proceed with public transportation to Ciboleger Village. Ciboleger village is the gateway to Baduy village. For tourists, you must fill out the guest book first at Ciboleger.

Hello @AlviRizkyAmd ,

Congrats on your first post and welcome to Local Guides Connect.

Such an impressive place to visit, thank you for sharing it with us. The photos you’ve captured are so vivid and unique. It amazes me that so close to Jakarta there are villages where people don’t use modern gadgets. It seems to me that Visiting Baduy feels like travelling back in time, would you agree?

By the way, since you are new on Connect, I highly recommend you check the following articles, as they will help you make your experience here much more enjoyable and easier to navigate:
