Great Italian restaurant in Takapuna

This is nice and cosy place in North Shore of Auckland. Booking is strongly recommend to avoid longer wait times for a table. From the outside it looks quite small but it is buzzing with conversations and activity. Al Forno is nicely decorated with friendly and cosy atmosphere. There’s a huge mural showing typical Italian landscape. I am assuming it’s done by local artist. Staff have strong Italian accent, so it does complete the feel of small restaurant somewhere on Adriatic coast.

The food was great with selection of staples of Italian cuisine - pizzas, pasta, seafood. Choice of 16 wood fire pizzas should suffice for anyone. And there are veal and chicken meals for everyone else.

To finish off the meal go for desert and coffee. As you may expect there is enough to choose from, both deserts and coffees.

We will visit Al Forno again for sure and it will be sooner rather than later.

Hi @ZerglingOne ,

Welcome on Connect.

Thank you for this great experience that you shared with us. I am really curious about the mural that you described in the post, what was representing? Did you make a picture of it?

Also, was it your first experience in an Italian restaurant? What were your impressions about the authenticity of the dishes?

Since you’re new to the community, you might want to share a bit about yourself and get to know others in our monthly Introduce Yourself topic.

Hi Sorbe,

I didn’t take the picture of mural. It is quite large and to take a picture I would have to move thru almost entire restaurant and potentially disturb people. When I go again I’ll try that.

No, it was not fist time in Italian restaurant and the food was great. I believe it was authentic but I am not Italian.

Thanks for the guidance. I am posting lot of reviews on Maps but just starting in here. I’ll do the intro soon.

Regards,

Zorko
