Gratefulness

Angels unexpected!

My family and I came for a much awaited holiday to Italy. Rome, Florence and Venice were our stops. Rome and its delights lived up to beyond expectations but Florence showed us another side of things.

Our passports and a small wad of our carefully saved Euros were swiped away by a huge bustling crowd and we were left in the middle of no where, with a baby, bags and a stroller.

From that point on, angels started appearing out of the woodwork from the two gentle ladies at the bus stop, who exclaimed "Dio !! " and proceeded to call a taxi and bundle our miserable party to the nearest police station.

At the police station, during the tedious paperwork, my beleaguered children where entertained by two little golden haired angels, who i think were kids of the policemen. The littlest angel burst into tears when she waved goodbye to my baby. Planting a small seed of gratefulness in my otherwise sad and bitter mind. Angels unexpected!

Angels appeared around corners and dark alleys where we lost our way in the wet labyrinth of Venice.

Finally when I arrived at the steps of the Embassy of United States, i saw a new angel called Anthony, the kindest funniest angel in the guise of the consulate staff who helped a weary mother and her weary kids.

I went to Italy to see the angels of the Sistine Chapel and the San Pietro church, they were beautiful but I saw some real ones, even more beautiful!
