GoPro Max and Streetview Studio issues

Firstly… is it no longer accepting images and only video there?

Secondly I’ve tried to upload 360 videos on a few occasions there and the program does not accept my files. I can’t see any issue and have not found any guidance on requirements on the app or the online resource. Id love to hear from anyone here that has had success posting 360 video to locations in the new streetview studio app!

Please be informed that support for Google Streetview is no longer available here on Connect.

Learn more in this update by Googler DeniGu: Questions about Street View?

The new help center consists of some articles and a few forms. There is no real support available for virtual tour makers. Instead, you will need to use (and pay for) software or services from one of the third parties vendors should you want to connect and upload photospheres to Google Maps.

I noticed your profile text on Google Maps. Running a business is not compatible with being a Local Guide. I recommend you leave the Local Guides Program with your streetview business.

You can continue being a Local guide using another Google account.

I have shared some tips on how best to leave the Local Guides Program here. It will help you understand the consequences and select which leaving method is best for you.

Regards
Morten

UPDATE: Please see this post about being Trusted and a Local Guide using the same account.

@BuckyHelms ,

To publish Photo Spheres to a place, use the Google Maps app on your mobile device, the desktop version of Google Maps on your computer, or a 3rd party publishing tool. For a list of recommended publishing tools, see the Street View website.” for more details please read: Use Street View in Google Maps

You can read more about Street View Studio and the related activities, like selecting and setting a 360 camera, in:

Regarding promoting your business through the Local guides program, as mentioned by @MortenCopenhagen , this is against the Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions : “organizations, brands, and businesses are not eligible for the Program. If you offer services for hire (such as marketing yourself as a Street View trusted provider), you are not allowed to bundle such services with your Local Guide membership.**.

In addition, acting on behalf of a business for posting the photos they paid for with your own profile, this is not only a violation of the rules mentioned above, this is also a serious violation of the Community policy : “Users who duplicate photos across locations, … will also be removed.”

Please remove them asap

How to be a Street View trusted photographer while also being a Local Guide clarify the difference between a Local Guide and a business.

Olá, @BuckyHelms

“Id love to hear from anyone here that has had success posting 360 video to locations in the new streetview studio app!”

• A resolução do vídeo mínima permitida é 3840,1920.

A ferramenta nunca aceitou fotos.

Sucesso

Gracias, I will check my files and try again. I actually used ChatGPT to translate this to English and will append that below for others!

"I use the tool and haven’t had any problems so far.

The videos must have the following configuration below: (some information is not in the Help Center documentation but is in the Street View Publish documentation)

• 360° videos must have a 2:1 aspect ratio • The minimum allowed video resolution is 3840,1920. • The video must have GPS data included, currently the service is not accepting separate GPX file submissions. • The video formats must be .mov or .MP4. Any other format is not accepted. • The video must be recorded in the horizontal format. Videos in the vertical format are not accepted.

IMPORTANT:

  • The Street View Studio is not for sending 360° photos, it is only for sending videos. 360° photos for locations must be sent directly to Google Maps as indicated here.
  • The platform is for all users, not for “Google Trusted Photographers”.
  • Contributions submitted through the Street View Studio do not count points in Local Guides. Videos are currently not shown in the “Photos” section of your Local Guide profile, even if available on the Map.

Success

Thank you for the feedback here. I do not use Local Guides in a “for profit” manner. I’ll refer all questions regarding street view in the help section of that app going forward.Concerning the posts across multiple locations: I had an awful experience with the Print company referenced in your photo screengrab a year or so ago during a personal purchase and that was the only way to get them to respond at the time. I have gone back in and removed those photos and understand/appreciate your concern. Thank you for your due diligence. I’ll do my best to adhere to the TOS of the program going forward!

Thanks for the feedback, @BuckyHelms . It would be great if you tag the person you are responding to by using @ and selecting in the popup the username.

This will make it easy to follow the conversation.

Thanks a lot for explaining that you are using the Local Guide profile not for business, and for removing the inappropriate photos.

As you want to follow the rules, I am suggesting you to:

  • Fix your promotional content in your profile in Connect and in Google Maps. As I said, Local guides is a program “not for Businesses” and I already share the rules to you: "you are not allowed to bundle such services with your Local Guide membership"
  • The photo we upload in Maps should show the place, not your personal album of photos, like here (same has also been uploaded twice) or here. While the photos in the last link may be a nice keepsake for people who were there, you’re actually showing the same conference room nine times. Are they supposed to be images uploaded to a hotel listing, or am I wrong? What is the benefit to a Maps user of seeing those photos? One is ok, because it informs us that the hotel has a conference room, but the others? I think we should train ourselves to think like a user when we upload our images and ask ourselves: “Are these photos useful?”. For memories we can share an album uploaded to Google Photos with our friends.
  • Respect the privacy. Blurring faces is important: https://goo.gl/maps/M567mppC27RzUEbp9, . The Supreme Court of Georgia has long held that Georgia citizens have a ‘liberty of privacy’ guaranteed by the Constitution.

Please don’t take me wrong, I am just trying to help you to avoid issues due to violation of rules.

Say hallo to Macon from me. It is a lot of time I don’t come there (I worked in there from 1995 to 1996 and I moved back to Italy a week before the Olympics) and I miss Georgia a lot

Very helpful @ErmesT for us to keep our credibility. Thank you for keeping us abreast.

@ErmesT very good feedback here… I’ll check my profiles as well to make sure I’m not muddying the waters. I am a business owner and that is part of my identity, so I would like to mention that in my profiles, but I can certainly limit the self-promotion in those. Thank you again and let me know if you’re ever back in the Georgia here in the states. It’s changed quite a bit since your last visit I’m sure!

I’m sure it is changed a lot, @BuckyHelms , that’s why I never wrote a review about the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park where I was used to walk on Sunday morning, nor about the Museum of Aviation near Robins AFB, where I discovered the history of Native Americans migration.

I will have to come back for sure, soon or later, even if the company I was working as a consultant closed in 2005.

I am a person of rules, @Diplomat_Peter , but what I try to explain is the reasons, the logic and the principles behind a rule. If we miss these three points, we lose our credibility. Why should a business be happy to have local guides among its customers, if being local guides doesn’t mean having principles?
Sometimes we forget why the rules exist, and get lost in the rules as such. I believe that when we are contributing we should stop for a moment and ask ourselves some simple questions, like “is this photo, or this review, the one I would like to see/read if I were a user?”. If we always asked ourselves this question, the rules would become useless unnecessary.

I like the question, “is this photo, or this review, the one I would like to see/read if I were a user?” @ErmesT . The world both at homes, work, play and wherever is looking for principled people. And what I learn and continue to is to ask for help were I don’t know something, look for information from various sources for my learning because we are all influencers of someone.
