GoPro Fusion loses GPS during edit

Trailblazer rejects GoPro Fusion video, says it lacks GPS.

Apparently location data is lost during post-production / editing.

Trailblazer accepts files directly from Fusion Studio but rejects anything edited in Adobe Premiere or After Effects. These applications apparently undermine the requisite GPS metadata.

Solution? Is there a way to protect Gopro’s tenuous geotag through the editing process? Or can I reinstall it afterward so Trailblazer uploads my video?

BTW I’m experienced with video production but know little about extracting GPS from raw data files.

Thanks

Hi @Craigar I remembered someone else posting about this about a year ago… I went hunting, this answer might help you https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/GoPro-Fusion-Geotags-GPS/m-p/744432/highlight/true#M128719

Thanks, PaulPavlinovich. I read that (and many others) prior to posting. It mostly pertains to still photographs – with the exception of Stafford’s contribution. That’s informative.

Unfortunately I’m still unable to post finished video due to lost GPS data. This issue is apparently unique to GoPro Fusion.

That post is 15 months old and Google has since selected Fusion as an approved camera. I’m hoping compatibility accompanied this designation. A viable workaround solution would also be welcome.

To summarize:

  • How do I retain GoPro Fusion’s GPS data through video editing in Premiere so it’s recognized by Trailblazer?

OR

  • How do I (re)attach GPS metadata to video so it’s recognized by Trailblazer?

Thanks.

Topic Update:

After communicating with people at Panoskin, who make TrailBlazer, I learned it can’t be done.

Editing Fusion video (outside of Fusion Studio) will corrupt the GPS data and lead it’s rejection inTrailblazer. Street View is incompatible with GoPro Fusion video that’s been edited.

Very disappointing.

I shot some great 360 video for Google Street View. Now I learn it won’t work.

Update.

From my experience, Panoskin Trailblazer is incapable of publishing video.

The first problem was Trailblazer’s inability to publish edited Fusion video.

However after multiple attempts with unedited video, it’s apparent Trailblazer doesn’t work with any video.

Efforts to resolve this with Panoskin – emails, uploads, data transfers – have been unsuccessful.

I’m forced to conclude: Trailblazer doesn’t work.

Suggestions are welcome.
