Google Needs to Improve Maps and Assistant a lot to be useful for real Travel

I travel a lot, basically non-stop and not even the pandemic was able to stop me. This is all essential travel just in case someone wants to complain :wink:

But Google Maps, Assistant and Auto have so many issues and they actually got worse. Stuff used to work just fine a couple months ago. Now its all messed up.

I use Google Maps in conjunction with Android Auto and the best way to interact is via voice command, which ties in to Google Assistant, during driving.

Lately when I ask Google Maps/Assistant to find the nearest gas station, it won’t find the nearest anymore. it will find the closest to my starting point. The reason for this is, it thinks I am still at my starting location.

For example, when I ask “where am I” it always gives me my starting location. even tho I am already one hour into my drive. Navigation works flawlessly and it shows me my correct location on the map. Just assistant is to “stupid” to realize that :wink:

So now if I ask for a gas station, coffee shop, or anything else, it always sends me back to my starting point. Has anyone else noticed that? This is going on for the last few days.

This functionality still works fine for me @38160210003 while Maps might know your location, make sure that Android Auto and Assistant have permission to get your location.

It does and it works fine as long as I am not using Android auto.

Also it worked just fine in the beginning and now it doesn’t.

Very strange.
