Google marks my opinions as fake engagement

Google marks my opinions as fake engagement which is somehow funny, because:

  • many of my opinions that were marked as fake engagement concern places that Google Maps App asked me to review,

  • some of them concern places I used to visit several times per week. Example: office building where I used to rent an office space, local bakery, where I buy buns or cake almost every day or the city market in my family town where I spent almost every weekend.

Other places marked as spam: review of the personal trainer I’ve been working with for few years. This one have been unpublished because it contains obscene content. Maybe because I posted that he helped me a lot with my glutes (he really helped me a lot to strengthen those muscles).

Other one: a review of the restaurant that I’ve visited with my family, a review of the hotel I spent few days in. All of them because they were recognized as fake engagement.

I really don’t understand the reasons.

Cheers

Just few seconds ago I got a message that my opinion has been unpublished because it was recognized as fake engagement. I visited this place yesterday and it’s clearly visible on my google maps timeline. To navigate to this place I used google maps app :slightly_smiling_face:

But i is still recognized as fake engagement.

Google, why?

I don’t have your answer, @MSPolTZ , but I’ll give a comment to hopefully raise the visibility of your post. Good luck :crossed_fingers:

Hi @MSPolTZ ,

I can only confirm, that Google’s famous out-of-control AI filters are back in action again.

It is not the first time I’m facing this issue.

It comes back as a boomerang.

They definitely don’t want me to contribute anymore

Once you get caught by those filters, you will not run away easily.

Your future ratings and/or reviews will be banned.

What you can do is to fill in the form: Account investigation for contributions not visible on Google Maps and wait for some reaction.

Hello @MSPolTZ

This issue has been reported by many local guides. Take a look at the following discussion.

Thank you for all your responses.

I have already submitted several appeals and it looks like my reviews started to show up but still some of them don’t show and don’t count to my “Trailblazer” achievements. Those ones that don’t show up have been posted some time ago in Tanzania and usually concern places that had been added as new places. Anyway, I can now see light at the end of the tunnel.

Got same problem this morning.

My review has been marked as “Fake” after three (3) years, I don’t think that it’s an algorithm problem, but the owners that are trying to get my legit review removed (it make sense, but since they made angry many people, they deserve them).

Review were given on two places connected together (holiday apartment agency and the apartment I’ve stayed a week), one of the two review also was very detailed and highlighted many problems I’ve encountered during my stay.

My review was also supported by likes of all people being there in that period and have a bad experience with the agency.
