Google Maps views have gone backwards - anybody else?

Hey Everybody,

Sorry if this is not the place for this; I haven’t really used this service that much. I have noticed my total views have slid backwards from where they were. I check up on them weekly & on 12/2/20 I had 15,488,560 & then I noticed a week later they dropped by almost 450k for the total! I looked tonight & I see a total of 15,417,003! Does anybody know why this happened & have they had the same experience??

Hello @Jason_Eberle80 and welcome to Connect.

Regarding your question, you may not be aware but there is an How-tos topic here on Connect which is dedicated to questions like yours. You should edit your post and change it from the Photography topic to How-tos as it fits better there and this is where you are likely to get a wider response and also where others who may have similar problems can benefit from the discussion. You can read more about Connect topics here: How to choose a topic for your Connect post.

Now regarding your issue, sometimes there are temporary glitches on the view counts for example Google might be working on some update. Also, total views can drop when photos for one reason or another are deemed to not comply with the contents policy and as such photos and/or reviews are marked as private. Photo contributions that violate the Local Guides program rules, Local Guides community policy, and Maps user contributed content policy. If your photos have been flagged as private or removed, they may have violated the policies and you don’t want to be violating the policies do you! You should note that repeated violation of the policy could result in you being removed from the Local Guides program altogether!

Also, as you are new to the Connect community, there are some great articles that you should read to help you quickly get your feet on the ground here that will also make your experience here even better. I recommend that you check out:
