Google Maps is turning 15 years old !

:tada: :birthday:

This Saturday, February 8th, we celebrate the 15th anniversary of Maps. In this honor the application has unveiled a new logo with revisited colors.

The application will also change its structure since the famous “hamburger” in the top left corner will disappear to allow a simplified use by grouping the functionalities in 5 logos: “Discover”, “Go”, “Saved”, “Contribute” and “News” at the bottom of the page.

I would like to thank the French Google Maps team for the invitation to testify as the French representative of Guide Local, a community of more than 120 million people around the world that contributes every day to improving the information on the map (adding opinions, photos, roads, etc.).

To be honest I’m not aware of anyone in our team who got invited, not sure if they didn’t make any celebration here or just not invited someone from CL19.

That’s a pity. In France Google Maps invited reporters on Monday, first time Maps was communicating like this apparently.

I was the only local guide, all the other people were reporters (around 8/10 I guess).
