I am passionate about improving accessibility and information navigability. I love to share navigability information, i.e. sharing information which makes the world (and information) easier to navigate; e.g. maps, routes, resources, or pictures that are descriptive of the space.
I have ASD, which makes the world more difficult to navigate, and I contribute to help other people have an easier time in life, whatever their difficulty. I understand information differently, have difficulty communicating with people, and have severe sensory sensitivities. When I walk into a place designed for a different brain, I sometimes don’t understand the way they communicate and/or can be overwhelmed by the stimuli.
When I contribute, I record any confusion I experienced and what solved it or what is missing in the place that would help. When writing my contributions I apply empathy and think about User Experience principles in trying to smooth the experience over for future visitors.
From contributing, I find such a sense of fulfillment in knowing that I am helping others out there and I hope to help however and whenever I can. I am thankful for all of you out there who contribute, for whatever reasons you have for doing so, because it helps me so much every day, and many many other people. This feeling of thankfulness motivates me to contribute more accessible information because I feel that I should pass on the love and do my part to share it with more people
