Corrections to wrong names and wrong locations should be flagged as TOP PRIORITY. Currently it looks like all our request to correct the name of an area is being IGNORED and this is causing enormous difficulties to people who drive around these areas. My location in Ashok Nagar is being mentioned as “ZAFFERKHAN PET” and this is 4 kms away from where I stay. Last THREE YEARS I have been flagging this mistake and probably Google considers it a waste. Volunteers like us feel frustrated when we get this negative response that takes away the zeal to help this wonderful initiative.
Hi @Vasan_Srivathsa ,
Thanks for reaching out!
We understand your endeavor, to have the information all checked to be in line.
Just to be sure, would you mind specifying a bit more of the issue you are facing with?
As the main subject of the post would be related to a specific inquiry/issue, it would be relocated to How-tos.
Response to Sonny’s request to elaborate on the incorrect naming of locations in Google Maps. I stated as an example my own experience in this regard. Since 2016 I have sent several correction requests regarding the incorrect mention of the street - SOUNDARA PANDIAN STREET with “ZafferKhanpet” in Ashoknagar.
Zaffer Khan pet is no where near Ashoknagar and causes enormous difficulty when a first time visitor engages an UBER cab. The remedy suggested by me was “incorrect naming” should be flagged as a critical error and there should be a validation procedure set in place. Most volunteers like us can authenticate the correction suggested.
