Imagine you have visited a great place, where you had an amazing meal. Probably, you would like to save it for later and share it with friends. Especially when it is about food, right? When I arrived in Madrid to enroll in my Psychology Ph.D. studies at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, this happened to me all the time. I was an Argentinian tourist (that had never left Latin America) facing the challenge of getting to know the incredible Spanish culture. During my first experiences as a city adventurer, I realized that I was losing track of nice places and experiences on a daily basis. That is when I learned that I needed a digital tool to save relevant information about cool restaurants, bars, and attractions.
I found Google Maps as my tool to achieve this. It seemed to me (and it happens to this day) that uploading a review and some photographs was a very easy task. After uploading some reviews, I began to notice that my comments were really useful for other users, and I also understood that writing for others was making me a better city connaiseur. My Spanish friends would tell me: “How can you remember all that information about those great places to have some tapas or to have something for dinner?”. My answer was, systematically, that I was able to remember all that stuff because I had put little chunks of effort into uploading reviews to Google Maps. So, my take-home message is that if you are the kind of person that loves exploring new places, tasting unknown flavors, and also keeping track of your sensations and experiences, Google Maps may well be your ultimate foodie tool. You will become a more insightful person while enjoying the huge benefits of being part of a wonderful community of users. So do not hesitate and give it a try!
