When I initially began using Google maps I become heavily dependent on it for navigation, for information regarding congestion and for scheduling the events of my day based on the travel times cited by the app. I used it everyday. However, with the introduction of Google Local guides, I now use Google maps not only for those purposes but additionally to share, to discuss and to describe my stories and experiences about places that I have visited or worked with. Local guides enables me to be a photo blogger, a writer, a food critic, an art connoisseur, a music enthusiast and a reviewer just by being an active citizen in my community. It allows me to think, to create and to express myself as an individual on this platform. My love for stories drives my passion to be a responsible and consistent local guide. I particularly enjoy sharing photos of places that I have traveled to, writing reviews about locations I have visited, expressing my experience with the local businesses, sharing details that I wish I knew before I went there and addressing individual needs such as accessibility and resource availability. I like helping people feel more comfortable when they try something new. I would love to help them feel and be more excited to try something new! It really helps me when I get to read about an individual’s experience with a company or institute before I commit to it. It also helps me be brave before I try something new like skydiving or scuba diving or a new cuisine! I would love to help other people be brave by sharing my experiences on Google maps!
