I created a Google Map pindrop for a free local historical museum ran by a nice elderly couple because they weren’t getting many visitors. I see that there is an Admission fee listed on the Overview & Tickets area of $10. There is NOT an admission fee to use the museum. They do offer a tour of the neighborhood once in a while that does cost $10 but this makes people think that the museum charges an entry fee when it does not. Did a user add this to the pindrop or did Google? Can it be removed? If so, how? This is deterring people from going to the museum.
About once a year or so they walk around the neighborhood, like a tour, and talk about the history of the houses in the area. They charge $10 per person. It really doesn’t have much of anything to do with the museum. The museum is free!
As you can see, there is a link to the “official site” of the museum, where you can clearly see what is free and what you have to pay for (basically two tours)
On the same page you can be added to the waitlist for the others visit.
Yes, I can clearly see this as you stated but it doesn’t tell me who added it as my question was clearly written “Who added the tickets tab?”. Then I added another question right after it, “Google?”. That question wasn’t answered either.
The people that manage the museum are very old and didn’t even know about Google Maps until I told them about it. They are not going to want to try and figure out Google Maps to manage their Google Map pindrop information.
The tix tab is doing them more harm then good. 98% of their customers come for the FREE museum. Very few people pay for the guided tours that are not even at the museum and have nothing to do with the museum.
Their website has two different businesses or entities if you will. One is the museum, it is free, and the other is the website’s guided tours of the neighborhoods a mile down the road. But the two businesses have nothing to do with eachother, other than they are ran by the same society or group of people. The tickets should not be shown on this pindrop.
A good example of a similar situation is if a city library has a pindrop, and on the Google Map Overview, the city website is given. On that same city website the city advertises their Halloween Haunted House that they have every Halloween, and they list the tickets for $10 per person. Why should there be tix for $10 mentioned on the city library pindrop on Google Maps. That is asinine, or at best, confusing to the people that just click on the Google Map pindrop for the library and now they might think it costs $10 to get into the library or check out a book or movie.
Thank you for your part in getting this corrected. I see that the Tickets tab was removed. Thank you.
I do a lot for Google Maps as I am sure you do as well, but I am not sure why Google takes so long to simple things done. This simple 2s fix should have been fixed inside of a week instead of the over half year it took. I see so many examples of simple things taken a long time to fix.
Sometimes changes might take longer than usual, due to verification. Most of the issues gets fixed in a day or two. Our personal contribution has nothing to do with the details on a business. It was observed by the team / system and added payment option.
I can see the issue was posted here in July and fixed in Nov.
How did the Tickets section get on there in the first place? (computer or person)
How long did it take to get the Tickets section added?
However long it took the Tickets section to be added, that’s how long it should take to remove. I am guessing it took hours or a few days to add, and as we already know, it took about a half year to remove.
