When We Add A Missing Palace Then We Cant Add Mobile No. Is This Bug Ya Any Update Comeing Can AnyOne Help Me On This
Hi @RamRahem ,
Thank you for contacting us!
As this topic is not related to Street View, I am tagging here two Google Moderators working on the Local Guides program that will better assist you with you question.
@KlaudiyaG and @Ivi_Ge , can you please have a look at @RamRahem 's support request.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Mihal
Hi @RamRahem ,
I tried and I was unable to replicate the issue you are facing. Have you tried to add the missing place in question from another device? If not, would you please test it out and let me know the outcome? Note that if the “Add phone number” option is present, then it appears that the core of your problem comes from your device. In this case, I would recommend updating your Google Maps app to the latest version available. This may help fix this malfunction.
As my colleague, @mihal20 already mentioned to you, your inquiry is not related to the Street View program, this is why I’m going to move your post to the How-tos board on Connect. This will help keep the Connect clutter free and will avoid confusion among members. By the way, if you are interested to learn more about what type of discussions we welcome on this particular section, please feel free to review the following article- Welcome to the How-tos board.
@KlaudiyaG @RamRahem in another thread (can’t find it right now) @C_T mentioned that there are limitations to entering phone numbers in India in general (due to a lot of abuse in the past). Maybe this is also at play here?
Yes, that’s true @JanVanHaver
The Maps app doesn’t allow community edits or additions of phone numbers in India.
That’s linked to the account. Even if I am outside of India, I can’t do so. However, an Indian origin non-resident person can do that while in India (Nonetheless, the edit may get rejected).
I remember, there was a news article on Jan’ 20 quoting
“Director & HYD Site Lead - Trust & Safety” of Google India, about blocking of community edits, here in India. There isn’t any change in that situation yet.
Thank you, @JanVanHaver and @C_T for stepping in. I’ll let the team look into this just in case.
Yes, it will be best if they can have a look @KlaudiyaG . I found the article @C_T (https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/mumbai/taking-steps-to-stop-listings-scam-google-6263342/) and according to that the phone number limitation was only a temporary one, so I’m not fully convinced this is still at play here.
Thanks for the feedback @JanVanHaver
I know the news article. The wording is roundabout. The lock continues forever.
Here is a fresh screenshot on my phone. I picked a place outside India, intentionally.
There is no option to add a phone number.
If a phone number exists, I can edit that, but without any success.
BTW. The news article was in response to the police authorities taking up with Google another way of cheating. Since Google blocked phone number edits, the cheaters started posting photos of POIs with superimposed phone numbers. Customers of many wine shops lost huge sums after calling those numbers.
Another surprise is, the users could arrange to make the pics as cover photo.
We do not understand the logic of how Google decides a cover photo. But, the cheaters were one step ahead!
Thanks for the update @C_T , very helpful. And being employed myself in the cybersecurity industry, I know very well that the bad guys are often a step ahead…
Hi again @RamRahem ,
Would you please provide me with the following information- exact name and address of the place you are trying to add to the Map?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Thank You @KlaudiyaG @ For Reply

Thanks for the update, @RamRahem . Could you please share a few examples here of the places you tried to edit the phone numbers and the option wasn’t available? I would also appreciate it if you could add the place you are trying to add on Google Maps and provide me with the link, as it will help with the investigation.

Yes, I understand, @RamRahem . However, in order for the team to make a profound analysis why this option is not available to you, they require the place’s identification. This is why I kindly ask you to add the place on Google Maps, without adding the phone number, and transfer the link to me so that I can forward it to the concerned team.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for sharing a few examples in your previous comment.
