Google Map Local Guides Competencies!

Do you think there should be required competencies for being an excellent local guide ?
Are there any helpful skills or abilities for heading up to effective local guide on Google Map?

Can we have an educational platform to improve our qualifications through exchanging our experiences?

If you ask me @MOHAM1 , Connect is certainly the kind of platform you are talking about (although admittedly it might not always be easy to quickly find the specific info you are after).

You can also listen to the LetsGuide Podcast to learn more about specific local guides topics.

Hi @MOHAM1 ,

Thank you for reaching out! The question you asked is interesting. To begin with, I would suggest you to take a look at Google Maps Contributed Content policy. There you would find what kind of contributions you can make on Google Maps and many more.

You can follow the tips that @JanVanHaver shared with you as you will find them very helpful. : )

In addition to that, I am marking his reply as a solution, so other Local Guides can refer to it. The purpose of this feature is to help Local Guides find answers when searching on the Connect. Please take a look at: How do I mark comments as solutions? article.

I agree with @JanVanHaver , I do most of my learning here on Connect, but it can be VERY time consuming as you need to find those valuable posts amongst many others.

You may also consider joining Meet-Ups, either face to face or live webinars. Check out this week’s calendar and you will find two such YouTube webinars scheduled.

Joining an unofficial Local Guides community is always a good step towards improving your competencies, as you will be able to guide and be guided by fellow Local Guides from your area.

In addition, I am personally am involved in a social learning LG community (unofficial) that you may be interested in. This community on Facebook shares those valuable posts on Connect. In other words, you basically get curated content from Connect and meet others that are committed to learning and improving our LG skills.

Learning never stops. So good on you, asking about it.
