Map is a unique thing, it has been a part of the world for centuries and is the an important asset to the explorers of the world.
Time has changed, Maps have advanced, but the principle of it has remained the same, to tell the World about the World.
And this is what Google Map is for me, "To tell the world about the World".
What is Google Local Guides to me?
Well, for someone like me, who changes his Profile Picture in almost 4-5 years and has nothing on his Social Media status, it is a platform to express. It introduced me to the creative side of myself. The thing which started off as an excitement to explore new features of Maps and the happiness of being in a long-awaited vacation now stands strong with over 1,70,000 views on my photos and 8000+ views on my reviews. It is a good feeling!!
What I love to do as a Local Guide?
I love Reviewing, I just love it. Because I myself rely heavily on them for planning a trip and I know how hard it is to find that perfect review which answers all your queries.
For me starting a review doesn’t start after the end of the trip by recalling the memories of it but it starts the moment, I reach the location. Whether it is a restaurant, mall, hotel or any tourist place.
“First impression is the last impression” is not a hard and fast rule for me. I believe in second chance. If the breakfast was not up to the standard, don’t worry, Oh you Hotel!! You have Dinner to impress me.?
The only rule that I follow writing a review is to keep myself at the receiving end of my review.
"What do I look in a review?"
Precise and up to the point content covering every aspect of a place. And to compliment the review should be the pictures and Voila!! You get a review to help fellow travellers.
How being a Local Guide changed me?
It changed my perception of travelling. I learnt there’s more to travelling than just travel. It added a sense of responsibility towards the community. I mean, for me it started off as an excitement to try out new features of Google Maps but seeing the number of fellow travellers looking my reviews and photos and the impact they are making, it made me more responsible. Now I write reviews keeping in mind the maximum benefits my fellow travellers can take out of it. Seeing the world through the lens of a Local Guide and seeing your efforts helping so many fellow curious travellers is a beautiful feeling.
Thank You Google for providing us the Common People, who are passionate about travelling, the power to bring happiness into our Community. To create such a place to share ideas, views and opportunity to give something to the businesses which leaves no stone unturned to make out trips memorable. It is a beautiful feeling!!
