Hello friends, I am Nandita Goldar aka Venturernandu in this forum. It gives me immense pleasure to write my first post here today.
About myself, I am an avid traveller who has travelled in 8 different countries since 2015 and most of the parts of India except Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. I used to share my experiences via my travel blog venturernandu.com .
Exploring new places and sharing them to other travellers gives me happiness as well as satisfaction at the same time. I have shared budget trips with maximum places to explore in my blog as well (eg.Coorg) so that the hardships I have faced are not faced by other travellers. I came to know about Google guide program when I was travelling to Coorg with my family and we were unable to locate the hotel booked by us. It was almost evening 5:30pm and the road shown by Google guides in maps ultimately helped us to reach the hotel. The hotel was 2-3 kms inside the coffee estates and away from the highway. If google maps were not there then we might have been lost in our way. But thanks to local guides and their place creation. It is really very helpful as I have been benefitted a lot from it.
One more instance I would like to cite which really changed my thoughts towards Google local guide program is when I got posted to a new workplace in Maharashtra. It was very hot and humid climate during April 2018 and I was unable to locate my office there. I searched Google maps but could not find it anywhere.Somehow, I reached the place and performed my duties. While returning I clicked a picture of the workplace and posted it on Google maps with my location. It got updated and within two days I got a mail that it has over 100 views.Within a month’s time views were increasing and I got another mail that your photo has helped a lot of people. I realised that the problem I faced was being faced by many and the photo and location shared by me has helped quite a number of people to visit the same.
The Google local guides program is unique and very helpful for everyone. Helping so many people with so simple efforts could have never been possible without this. Since then ,I have tried to review whichever places I have been, be it a hotel or a tourist place I have shared my views regarding food, services, accomodation, tariffs, nearby tourists spots, best places to visit and so on. Even during this lockdown period whenever I get some free time ,I review the places I have visited in 2014,15 and before that. From hobby it has become a mandatory job to help others with my contributions as Google’s Local guide. Thanks to Google Team for providing me with this opportunity to help others by being a local guide.
