I live in Dubai , U.A.E . yes you heard that right , a city of dreamers right in the middle of a desert ! people with undying dreams and hopes built this city and we still are thanks to its wonderful and visionary leaders. Dubai is on everyone’s bucket-list from young to the old , from the couples to the solo. After all we do have the tallest Man made structure in the world -The Burj Khalifa- .
Google Local Guides Dubai chapter started in Back in 2015 when they launched it globally . we all hoped in right away in search of winning the 1TB Google drive . we started taking pictures , posting reviews answering questions , boy oh boy we were busy 24X7. And finally we won our precious price . But by that time , it became a habit and we loved to do .
Helping people was always my joy and in a way we started to notice many of the places we visited daily was not on maps. people where asking us , ’ can you show the direction to there ’ , ‘can you add that place’ etc. then i thought why not add these to the maps which will help everyone…Bingo!!
i started to add places around me . where every i visited , i popped out the camera and took the pictures and added it. Boom , my pictures started helping people , more views mean more help done. More help means more happiness and it came. Google called us for the first official meetup in Dubai.

It was great meetup and gave us so much insights on to improve how we are doing things . That was a start ! the start of a long journey ahead. Made many friends there with same taste and still are!!
i started adding more pictures to the maps , more reviews , more answers ! when ever i got a chance to visit a new place meant , its a new addition to the maps.Numbers started crunching in for the photo views , in Millions!!! sometimes people started asking me , why do you want to take a picture - i simply said ’ a picture says a thousand words about your place’ - in google maps .
After a while viewing numbers meant nothing !! Improving the maps meant improving mine and others life on a daily basis.love it and and is still ongoing. many places are still to be covered and this is a great way to explore the city myself and leave a trail which others can follow around the city.
