Google ignoring request to delete duplicates?

So, I started a thread, maybe a week ago; https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/quot-Not-applied-quot-when-trying-to-delete-duplicate-add/m-p/2790435#M1036108. I tried reporting the issues to Google, marked the duplicates and I explained myself.

It seems like no is processing my issues, no E-Mail of confirmation or rejection, places haven’t changed a bit. All my other queries are either automatically accepted automatically or rejected automatically. This system doesn’t seem very logical or user friendly.

Google is not ignoring the request to merge duplicate places, @Dieter1

As you can see, I’ve merged a duplicate just a few hours ago

However, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration before to try to merge two places:

The places you want to merge needs to be homogeneous (same category, same name or very similar, close location).

What can be obvious for us, could not be so obvious for an algorithm. Before to attempt a merge, we need first to find those elements that can make Google understand that it is the same place.

The first is the category: Restaurant and Pizzeria, for example, can be two categories that define a place, or Restaurant and Chinese Restaurant.
If a user has entered “ristorante da Bepi” and another the “pizzeria da Bepi”, for Google they will be two different places (different categories, even if similar) so it will not allow you to combine them. In this case, the first thing to do is to correct the category in one of the places, in order to make them homogeneous
The second is the name.
The third is the location: there are “chains” for certain activities (See McDonald’s) and in certain areas it is normal that there may be more than one in an area, maybe a hundred meters from each other. In this case, it will be advisable to fix the position first.
Obviously there are other information (telephone and website for example) to be checked, and possibly updated, to make the two places “overlapping”.

The checks are, in the initial phase, always filtered by an algorithm, so that non-overlapping information is interpreted as referable to different places. Once fixed, your attempt to merge them will probably not be rejected, although it will remain pending, waiting for other Local Guides to confirm your change.

I’m trying to delete them, as they don’t have anything the original (market square) doesn’t have. But I wouldn’t mind a merger either.

I’ll try to edit them more, but I don’t have much hopes…

@Dieter1 on top of the advise given by @ErmesT , I would like to point out that when a suggested edit is ‘Pending’, this can take weeks or even months to get processed.

Hello @Dieter1 ,

In addition the complete advise given above, I just wanted to say that I’ve noticed that your post has a German language label. Please note that I’m going to remove the label because you didn’t use the German language.
