Google I/O Extended 2019 in Islamabad, Pakistan

‘When great women come together, even greater things happen’ - Indeed it is true!

Yesterday, my fellow Google Women Techamkers Ambassador (Hufsa) hosted and executed one of the biggest #io19extended in Islamabad, Pakistan. It has been an exhilarating and breathtaking roller coaster ride - with the biggest turn out of tech enthusiasts and developers from more than 5 cities of Pakistan. As part of this event, we had an amazing time hosting the #WomenTechmakers panel. The panel was joined by boss ladies from the telecom industry to the gaming ecosystem, Facebook Developers Circle and Pakistan Women In Computing. The stellar panel of Women Techmakers Islamabad shattered stereotypes and talked about tech and entertainment with an engaging audience. It was one of the most engaging session during #io19extended for sure!

This has proved that people of Pakistan are eager to learn more about tech and willing to make a real change
Below are some of the picture from the event - personal favourite is the one in which a girl is experiencing the AR/VR demo

My biggest achievement from this event that I was able to share my local guides journey with everyone in a 10 minutes introduction

Hello @AIMAN_SAEED ,

Thank you for sharing this great event with us, and emphasizing on the importance of women during such important meetings.

I guess that, in a patriarchal society, the presence of women in such events are of a major significance in order to be recognized and prove that they deserve to be there, as much as men do.

When it comes to the event, what did you enjoy the most?

@BorrisS - If we talk about Pakistan major cities, the culture of patriarchy is slowly dying however in major rural cities, unfortunately, the concept is still alive. Even with the technological advancements and focus on education, we see fewer women in the industry and especially if we talk about the tech industry.

I feel at joy when I see women breaking barriers and coming out to network on events like these, their presence surely makes a lot of difference and indeed they prove themselves as the real changemakers by showing up for the great good.

I personally loved the Women Techmakers panel - this was the first ever panel which was attended by 100+ people from our community (with over 60% male audience - not proud of that but it made me so happy that the male audience fell in love with the panel discussion) Here is a vlog from one of the participant, he expressed the same thing about the panel
