Sorry to interrupt:
Here’s what’s up
On Google Maps
Get ready with teardrop cups
A crawling crunch
Savors a bunch
Of points as lunch
& leaves me punched
Those hard-earned in-depth reviews
Running ove 200 characters to win the boots
‘Expert Reviewer’ badge, I aimed to shoot roots
Achieved it, doubled it and then all hell broke loose
2 months ago my score stood at 96
but then the counter went sick
instead of awarding as it did
started biting, digging a pit
Every morning I would find out
1 or 2 points got stollen at night
No note, warning or error at sight
A herd missing a sheep. it goes on, getting tight.
Today, as I edited some old reviews
I think I got a glimpse of the wolf!
just as I posted the edited, spooffff!
2 point off that counter dissapere through the roof
Now, no biggie for elementary school kid
To point a finger and shout: “I saw what you did!”
But, if you remember ‘Horton hears a who’, the film
Can the Google dinosaur notice that tilt
So only 108 of your reviews are currently public. The difference is 118 is how many of your reviews were taken down. A review taken down does not count as a long review.
So the tough question is more: Why did Google take down 118 of your reviews
If you do a search here on Connect for “hidden reviews” you will find out more. But don’t expect Google to tell you in details what triggered the spam filter.
Thanks for the time and care you took to help out. Yes, I am aware of the gap between those two instances of the review-counter… It puzzles me too… hope anyone at Google can shed some light on this and the consequences in the badge system. However…
Next morning: all this mayhem is over
A hidden hand got done with messenger
No badges, no level - no problem, says big brother
The algorithm will live happily after
Or maybe… I’d like think positive
It took the time to count the beads
Maybe, just maybe - among my tips
May actually be something that could use a fix
For all I know as of today
I got a greeting in the mail
‘You reached a new record!’ it said
Any news about the elephant in the room?.. I’m left in the shade.
The praise emails are automatic and does not reflect the quality of your contributions.
I’m not sure what you want me to do now. I shared explanations on hidden reviews.
I just read your latest public review and would mention: do not share selfies. And screenshots are also not okay, and adding graphics over photos is also an issue.
I thank you for the tips about the selfies, screenshots and graphics in my reviews. Will follow.
I hope here in Local Guides Connect it is ok to attach a screenshot with graphics, in order to specify the location of the matter I am relating to.
As you may have noticed, the Local Guide points bar had gone missing from my profile as of this morning (first time ever in 6 my years of being on Google Maps). Wonder why & if it is related to my reporting and asking for help here, or through google support.
My access to the badges was also blocked (it used to be available by clicking on the mentioned bar). Any Idea why that could occur?
In a couple of days you are likely to lose your writing rights here on Connect. But you can still read if you use incognito mode.
Basically, you will need to study the guidelines and edit or delete contributions that are in violation. If you are not reinstated automatically you need to fill out the appeals form mentioned in the tutorial.
It can be a lot if work to clean up your contributions and there is no guarantees the you will be reinstated.
Keep in mind that you can still use Google Maps and make contributions.
