Google fixes missing Maps Timeline history, backups can now be restored

Many of you recently experienced missing data in your Google Maps Timeline due to a technical issue. This caused frustration for many users, but the good news is the issue has now been resolved!

You can now back up your Timeline history again.
However, for some users, the missing data may not be restored, and they will need to start fresh.

Suggested Actions:

Check Your Google Maps Timeline to see if your history is still available: To use Timeline on your device, update Google Maps
Ensure Location History is Enabled in your Google Account settings.
Report Any Persistent Issues by submitting feedback through Google Maps (Menu → Help & Feedback → Send Feedback).
