Google Badges!

Hi there!

I have question related with the Google Badges: I have found these Badges for Google Maps which seems old one: https://support.google.com/maps/answer/9197204?hl=en

Than I have found these which are with Points; Levels; and Badges and are active: https://support.google.com/local-guides/answer/6225851?hl=en

Is there a list of the Local Guides Connect badges? Can you give more information or a link?

Thank You!

Hello @DanielIlkov

The first proper thing is A warm and cordial welcome to local guides connect forum. We look forward to friendly interactions with you on connect. I’ll quickly present you A Welcome-to-Connect-Card . That’s a post that gives a brief rundown of activities here on connect. It also gives other useful links to necessary post of information for New users. Congratulations on your first post. I believe you have earned a new badge !!!

The links you have of all the badges are still very much current. The badges on Google maps app and the local guides levels. The only new badge is The new contributor badge. Some local guide also have that Where’s Waldo badge which is just a one off and an occasional thing.

Now back to connect,I’ll paste in my reply to someone with a similar question like yours.

Here on connect the following badges are operational:

Badges for number of post written. That is the number of new post or topic you authored. (E.g I wrote my first post on local guides connect) (Writer’s badge)

The number of likes . You decide to give a like to photos or posts or replies if you like it. The same goes to others for your own posts as well. That should depends largely on the content of your post and quality of photos of course. That makes for interactions on connect**.(Friends’ badge, popular badge)**

Solution. On connect we try to assist or answer questions or queries from other local guides on connect. If your reply is marked as a solution you get s badge for that as well**.(Solutionist badge)**

Badges for meet-up activities organised. They are basically 2. New connector and budding connector. Meet-ups are individual local guides events organised either physically or virtually (Connector badge)

All local guides that were signed up on connect until 2021 got a badge for being part of connect’s 5th birthday.

Status on connect. They are badges for connect moderators. Connect moderators are local guides like you and me only that they use their acquired knowledge to assist other local guides on the forum. They have been acknowledged by the local guides team as moderators. Googlers(Google moderators/ contributor/administrator)are Google employees that interact and help local guides on connect.

The guiding stars badge for exceptional local guides on the forum. Some local guides have been awarded guiding stars for 2 different years.

Of recent we had a connect Trivia badge. That was obtained as a result of some quiz of questions and answers about connect forum and the latest guiding stars event.

Events badges. Of course as the name suggests badges for attending live physical events E.g 2017 local guides summit attendees. Connect live 2018 and 2019.

There is a badge for applicants of connect live 2020 events because it was cancelled as a result of covid.

There is the street view trusted badge which might soon be scrapped in some days.(Not too sure). It was primarily part of connect program but then got separated.

Hope this answers your questions.

Happy guiding

Cheers

Google badges are just indicating the level of progress you have made from novice to expert in various Subfields… The level indicates your present position based on total points earned after a review, posting photos and videos, adding new location, editing old locations etc… You get points accordingly… For level 9 you have to cross 50000 points… I hope this is made clear.

Badges for Google Maps are different to the ones on Connect.

If you click on each individual profile you’ll be able to see how many badges each person has.

Hallo, @DanielIlkov

No, there is not a list of badges given in Connect.

We receive badges for:

  • Number of post: based on the number of thread you start (five badges)

  • Likes Given / Received: You can give a like to a post or to a photo, if you like it, and of course you can receive likes for beautiful contents. 14 helpful tips for using Connect will help you to write engaging post in the community (6+6 badges)

  • Solutions: When our reply is helpful, it can be flagged as a “Solution” for the post: Tip: How to mark replies as solutions — “Accept as Solution” feature ( Badges)

  • Status badges: are visible near the avatar like for Connect Moderator or Googlers, with the indication of the status written near the badge, e.g. Google admin

  • Achievement badges: are showing the participation to some official event, like Connect Live, or for being a Guiding Star, or for being a Beta tester

  • Special Badges: are created time by time for some specific reason, like for hosting meetups (2 badges), or for participating to a trivia game

Here below you can see an example

Be active in the community, and the number of your badges will increase for sure. To see the badges of a Local guide, you just need to click on the profile.

In addition please note that I have unaccepted the “solution” given by you, because that reply is not the solution of the post. To know more about the solution feature, please read: How do I mark comments as solutions?

Hello fellow LG @DanielIlkov ,

Welcome to LG Connect Community, the unique & exclusive platform for Google Local Guides.

I assure you that you have received the best answers to your questions, from our community experts. Also, after completing almost 6 years and posting over 400 posts on LG Connect, I have gained 22 Badges - my details are here.

For your kind information: unless you TAG your response, no one will know that you have responded:

How to TAG: Simply by typing the symbol @ before the User Name of an LG (as I have done above, to you), you can send a notification (TAG) to the other member. Ex: if you need to TAG me, then type @ followed by TravellerG - then I will get a notification - for more details, click 'Here’.

Most welcome, LG @DanielIlkov

When we are speaking about badges in LG Connect, the most important thing is “Your Friendship Circle”.

  1. To make friends, being active and support other LGs & they will start supporting you.

  2. By ‘Introducing Yourself’ in this thread & reading others’ introductions, you can build your friendship; will be very helpful for you.

Best regards
