Each place should have a certain category and selecting a suitable category is important to have accurate data on the map. So searching between different categories is really important. Users should be able to search categories by typing related phrase even if the word be in middle of category phrase.
This is a simple but necessary feature that we had in the past. But after upgrading Google Maps to new interface since last year we missed it. We discussed about it a lot. For example my friend @NABILazeez mentioned it and requested for a fix.
Now Google fixed category search issue and again we’re able to see all related categories when we type related word so we can select best one.
That’s useful information and many thanks for that.
It appears that the logic for word suggestion while selecting a category now uses a partial match.
Thus, if one enters a partial expression “rca” the suggested words are
Mercantile development
Majorcan restaurant
video arcade
Though these do not have any relation to each other but have a partial match!
Also, the latest change does not throw open the cimplete list of options available against that word.
In the given example of the word book, still, two categories are missed out in the listing. Those are
"Multimedia and electronic book publisher". “Rare book store”.
Let’s hope to get a further refinement in that in the near future.
Yes, @C_T , Personally I think partial match is good in this case.
And about not visibility of complete list, not sure but it seems it has a long delay to show rest of the list. Because when I checked it in an open tab after hour, the "Multimedia and electronic book publisher" was available in the list! Anyway surely it still needs to get better but this is change was also an important step.
