Gone are those days! Trip to Alibaug :)

I would like to share my experience of the last trip I had been to. Yes, you guessed it right, it’s Alibaug. It is a small coastal town m, towards the south of Mumbai. I and my friends call this place as our local Goa, haha, who knows many others must to doing the same too, just because it is much easier and faster to reach here from Mumbai or Pune. It was just before the lockdown began, during the Holi festival, we decided to spend some time chilling along the beautiful beaches. We started the journey with our personal guide, Google maps, and set out for the journey. It was a 170 km journey and should have taken 4-5 hours. After covering almost 100 kms, we checked the maps that we had to exit the highway in next 1-2 kms in order to get into the town. There was an essential turn which we had to take from the highway to head towards this road but the exit suddenly disappeared from maps, not sure whether it was a glitch or some connectivity issue, we missed it. We were horrified when the maps showed us a new path of 150 km distance. There was no choice of U-turn, and we were left with the only option. We had to take it, the journey lasted for 8 hrs in total due to bad road conditions. We were tired when we reached and it was night already, so we just went around the Alibaug beach for 10-15 mins and came back to hotel. The next day, during the morning we went to another beautiful beach and really had a good time. While returning, we made sure we don’t take an extra 100 kms like we did while coming. Haha. Incidents like these make the trips memorable. Now that we’ve been locked up in our houses for so long, I remember those days when we had the freedom to travel places and relax. I really want to relive those days once the situation is stable.

That’s an interesting story @Sonalshekhar

However, I am surprised how did you lose the tracks at Wadkahal.
One has to take a left turn for continuing onto the Mumbai Goa highway. Whereas, the road to Alibag goes straight.
So, an onward traveller is likely to get confused more than the one visiting Alibag.

BTW, could you visit the Sea-fort there?. One can reach there on foot during low tide.

Nice little story @Sonalshekhar and the photo is a great match, it really shows the relaxation you guys needed after that detour.

The beach looks like the perfect place to spend a long weekend or even a full week if it were up to me. What kind of attractions does Alibaug have to offer?
