Golden Hill State Park is a great place to visit but feature “Yurts” to rent that make for a really fun outdoor experience. They can be rented for $83 a night during the week and over the weekend there is a two day minimum. The Yurts sleep 6 people (2 bunk beds and a fold out couch) and also comes with a micro-wave and full sized refrigerator, and large wooden table with benches. There are full shower and bathhouse facilities a short walk away.

There are grills, picnicking tables, and a fire pit in front of each Yurt. If you have a boat, there is a really nice marina with wide ramps. Also a great area for kayaks and fishing as well. If you have a full sized RV there are plenty of hook-ups all through the park. There is also a first class 18 hole disk golf course in the park.

30 Mile Point Lighthouse

The park is also home to the 30-mile Point Lighthouse which is one of the most famous on the Great Lakes. It was built in 1875 and has been completely restored to the time period inside. Tours are available for a $1 donation from 2 to 4 PM daily. The lighthouse has a rich and interesting history and is in working order. We have literally met people there from all over the world that have come to visit.

So if your interested in a great outdoor and historical experience on the shores of Lake Ontario this is a great place! The park staff are very friendly and accommodating and are used to hosting visitors from all over the world.

Yes we did rent a Yurt. It is a great place. We were also lucky that the moon was not very bright that night so the stars and the night sky was spectacular. Great place for night photography if you like that kind of stuff.
