Golden Gate Bridge

One-mile-wide bridge connecting to San Francisco and the pacific ocean. It is known to be the one of the most popular symbols of San Francisco, California and the United States. The construction started in 1933. Today this bridge carries 40 millions vehicles a year and its just not only the transportation bridge, it one of the famous tourist destination point.

There are many misconception on when the bridge gets painted. Some says once in the seven years, but painting the bridge is an ongoing task which is a primary task.

The Golden Gate Bridge is located on US highway 101, it does not have any physical address but you can go following the direction on Google Map.

Parking

The southeast side visitor parking lot has services like gift center, garden, cafe. Parking is metered with 37 places and on the weekend it gets increased. It costs you $0.25 per 15 minutes.

The Northeast side visitor parking lot

Its a free parking zone with four hour limit. You will only have restrooms at this side.

Transit

Reaching the spot by public transit is the best way to visit. As the parking is very limited and due to on-going construction work the roads are mostly closed for the parking.

Tour Buses

Tour bus is one of the best way to enjoy the visit. Pick up and drop facilities are offered by most of the companies. Even you can design your itinerary with few of them.

Toll

There is no stopping at tollplaza as all the tolls are electronically charged. The options are one-time payment, a FasTrack account, License Plate Account and Toll invoice. It can be paid online, credit card, debit card or online banking, money order, cash or in-person.

What To Do

Visiting the Golden Gate Bridge is an awesome experience. Whether you shop, walk, bike or hike it just all fun there. You will find 2 cafes over there. 1. Bridge Cafe 2. Round House Cafe. You can have multiple choices at the places. Cafes are open from 9 am to 6 pm everyday.

There are free walking bridge tours by San Francisco City Guide twice a week (Thursday and Sunday), if you want to know the history, you should join them.

Share your experience with me, if anyone already had a visit. I am planning to visit the place soon and would be happy to receive all sorts of help like travel, guides, parking. The above information i take it as a reference and would really like the help from people who actually have visited the place.

Thanks in advance.

Please read carefully the link I shared with you on my first reply, @SallyRichard

We are local guides, we post about places that we know.

That’s why I asked you, and I am asking again: have you ever been there?

@ErmesT Not yet…but very soon…i guess, i should remove the post and only share the places i have been till now…

You cannot delete the post, @SallyRichard , but only make an edit removing the plagiarized content and explaining that Golden Gate Bridge is a place you would like to visit soon.

Many Local guides will be happy to give you some real tip

My suggestion for you is to cross the bridge by bike. If you want to visit San Francisco, you don’t need a car. The information you shared are mostly for people that live locally. BTW, on the Golden Gate Park you can find free park for 3 or four hours, depending of the place
