Gokyo Ri at 5357 meter above sea level gives a splendid view of Everest peak and surrounding area

In Oct 2017 I trekked to Gokyo Ri Nepal and I find the view on Gokyo Ri trek is much nicer as compared to EBC (Everest Base Camp) trek which I did in 2012.

First, see for yourself the photos.

Lastly, here are some tips to others who have not done trekking in Nepal before.

  1. It is not as difficult as you imagine it to be. Moderate fitness is good enough. Of course, it would be better if you have some form of hiking exercise before coming. If you have never exercised in your whole life, obviously this is not for you.

  2. It’s also not as dangerous as you imagine it to be. The terrain is generally quite gentle. Walk at even pace and no need to rush. However, do beware of high altitude sickness. This is especially when you have reached 3,500 m near Namche Bazar. Do not force yourself to continue hiking if you feel unwell, eg stomach upset, severe headache, face puffy, no appetite to eat, etc.

  3. Prepare all the necessary items which you can find out from google.

Warning: Trekking in Nepal is addictive. I have been there 5 times. And, I have met others who have been there 20 times !!! Nepali government’s tagline on tourism is “Once is never enough” .

Wow @Wong1688 such a splendid shots u have uploaded there. And first with Goyko lake in the bottom portion is my favourite. Nepal is passport less for us definitely going to visit place.

But I have some questions.

  1. When is the best time to visit?

  2. Is there a trekking guide or company to take us on trek.

  3. Which gears we need to take with us.

  1. Oct - Nov is the best time.

  2. You need guide. Most of these places are within the conservation area; and, for safety too.

  3. The kind of gear you need is very basic, just shoe and hiking sticks. For complete list, please google for items to bring for trekking in Nepal.

Thank you @Wong1688 for information

Hi @Wong1688 ,

Wauu thanks for the nice photos! When I saw them, I thought that it’s on another planet.to

It looks like your best adventure until now in your life. The tips that you gave, are very useful when someone wants to visit this place! Unfortunately, I’ve never been in such places so I will bear in mind your tips.

I think that @TsekoV can share his experience as well, because he visited such nice places too.

Thanks. This is the first time I have written on Local Guides Connect re my travelling. I intend to write more on my travelling over the years from now onwards.
