Hello World,
I am Shubham Jain and I am a level 8 contributor on Google Maps. I have posted around 3500 photos so far which has garnered more than a million views.
I love sharing photos the most on Google Maps. Photos help people know a place and its surroundings better before visiting it.
Today, I want to focus how adding more photographic details to places can help people make wiser decisions. Some of the details could be personal but if you feel that it won’t harm you in any way, you should share that.
Below are some details that I as a Local Guide try to add to my destination photos. In the brackets are the questions it can help someone answer.
- Adding timestamps to photos. ( How a place looks at a particular time of day or year)
- Photos of bus/train stops close to that place, bus/train timetables. ( What does the bus stop look like? Does it have a shade? What is the timetable of the bus/train ? What bus number should I look for ?)
- Photos of the bus/train tickets used to reach that place. ( What would be the charges to reach there?)
- Any photos of entry tickets, parking tickets etc. ( Are there any hidden charges that I may not have considered for?)
- Photos of the restaurant/food outlet menu. ( Is vegan available? )
- Any detail that helped me know more about that place. For example, a signpost that has a map of that place OR a signpost that says that you are not allowed to feed animals.
And, there could be 100 of such details. These photos serve proofs to the information you might have read in a review, blog or book.
The whole point here is: A photo is worth a thousand words and a bunch of photos that covers the various aspects of that place is worth a whole book.
Love & Peace
Shubham Jain.
